Dear Words of Wisdom

Dear Words of wisdom

Some of my identity was shaped not by places or people, but by words I encountered at the exact moment I needed them. These poems didn’t demand interpretation or explanation — they simply stayed. Quietly. Steadily. Long enough to become part of me.

On Purpose

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born, and the day you find out why.”
Mark Twain

This reminds me that clarity isn’t required at the beginning. Purpose doesn’t arrive fully formed; it reveals itself slowly, often after years of confusion, trial, and becoming.

On Change

“Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes,
but when you look back everything is different.”

C.S. Lewis

I love how quietly honest this is. Growth is rarely dramatic in the moment. It’s only in hindsight that you realize how far you’ve moved from who you once were.

On Feeling Deeply

“I understand now that I’m not a mess
but a deeply feeling person in a messy world.
I explain that now, when someone asks me why I cry so often,
I say, ‘For the same reason I laugh so often—because I’m paying attention.’”

Glennon Doyle Melton

This poem gave me language for something I used to apologize for. It taught me that sensitivity is not excess — it’s awareness. And awareness is a strength.

On Voice and Power

“Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter.”
African Proverb

This one feels like a responsibility. It reminds me why telling stories — our stories — matters, and why silence is never neutral.

Stay inspired,
